Behind the camera
Apart from giving prompts (or “creative directing” as I call it), I’m also there to document a couple without any direction. As a portrait photographer, it’s important for me to recognize when to jump in and help guide a session, and when to let it simply unfold in front of me, which circles back to the idea of being intentional with how I approach each couples session or wedding. These types of sessions are new opportunities for couples to fall deeper in love with one another and it’s my job to document and preserve them authentically

When I get asked “What’s my, “why?”, I say “To infuse my passion of intentional storytelling with your passion of pursuing intimacy and human connection.” For me, photography isn’t just clicking a button, but establishing trust and holding space for authentic and vulnerable moments. In order to do that, I need to be intentional with how I approach each and every couple, because no two are alike.
What does it look like to create a safe, fun and stress-free space where my clients can feel like their authentic selves? It starts with communication. I’m extremely transparent in how I operate my sessions and it shows in my work. I don’t force smiles or tell my couples to stand awkwardly and tell them to say “Cheese!”, but I know what prompts I need to tell my clients to get their real smiles showing! Ten times out of ten, movement-based prompts will generate better photographic results (and better energy from clients) than stiff poses.
